Founded
in 1953, Meoncross was originally located in hired premises, before
moving to Catisfield House in 1964. In 1969, Governors purchased
the larger Burnt House in the village of Stubbington, near Fareham,
to accommodate the demand for a girls’ department. Our whole
school was moved to this site in 1983 and at the same time, the
age range was extended to 16. A two-form entry Kindergarten class
was opened in 1991.
Now co-educational, Meoncross became part of the Asquith Court Schools group and a member of the Independent Schools Association
in 1995.
In 2004, Asquith Court Schools were bought by Cognita Ltd, a new education company chaired by Chris Woodhead, the first Chief Inspector of Schools. Cognita has 20 schools in its portfolio and is the largest independent schools business in the UK.
