Extra Curricular Activities

An exciting extra-curricular provision

At Meoncross, we are firm believers that learning happens beyond the classroom, and we offer varied and valuable opportunities for our pupils to enjoy.

We run a range of fun, exciting and interesting extra-curricular activities both at lunchtimes and after school every week for all children in Reception to Year 11.

Extra-curricular

An activity for everyone

We run a range of fun, exciting and engaging extra-curricular activities at lunchtime and after school every week.

Clubs and societies run throughout the year, offering our pupils many opportunities to broaden their horizons by trying new things, discovering hidden talents and becoming intellectually and culturally curious beyond the curriculum. Extra-curricular activities also offer pupils the chance to socialise with their peers while participating in an enjoyable event.

A number of our extra-curricular activities are sports based and seasonal; namely professional tennis coaching, football, netball shooting, hockey, rugby, cricket and rounders.

Drama is also well represented, with a weekly drama club, and annual productions which include both a Shakespeare play in the autumn, and a Musical in the summer.

Clubs are offered in other areas, and the following is a non-exhaustive list: Newspaper Club, Debating, Film Appreciation Society, First Aid Club, Gardening, Table-top Games, Scrap-booking, Speed-stacking, Computer Coding, Chess, Cookery, Gig-rowing and a twice termly Culture Club lecture.

In addition, out-of-hours weekly academic workshops are offered to pupils in a variety of subjects, either in preparation for examinations or as the need arises.

Meoncross Activities Programme (MAP)

At Meoncross, we are firm believers that learning happens beyond the classroom, and we offer varied and valuable opportunities for our pupils to enjoy through our Meoncross Activities Programme (MAP).

Our MAP is delivered in the two following ways:
  • A range of fun, exciting and interesting extra-curricular activities both at lunchtimes and after school every week for all children in Reception to Year 11.

  • In addition to these after school and lunchtime clubs, we run 'Passport' activities every Wednesday afternoon for Years 1 - 8.

Working closely with our School Values, MAP offers our pupils opportunities that compliment and enrich their learning. Through MAP, our pupils:

  • Aspire to learn something new.

  • Develop confidence.

  • Understand the views of their own and the views of others.

  • Widen friendship circles.

  • Extend and share interests.

  • Lead with confidence.

  • Confidently speak in front of others.

Encouraging new interests outside of the classroom

Our clubs

Understanding the wider community

Whether we are working on a collaborative whole school project of researching and appreciating a different country, taking part in a half termly project such as public speaking skills or completing an intergenerational project with a local care home such as our ‘Memories Project' venture, our pupils gain a deeper understanding of their place within the wider community and the world.

They develop even greater maturity and balanced view of society and cultures and appreciate how they can play such an important part in making a positive difference to other people and our planet.

A friendly, family oriented school with as much focus on personal development as academic excellence.
