Welcome to Meoncross School
A child's educational journey should be as unique as they are. We pride ourselves on our holistic approach whereby every child has the individual attention they need to thrive and succeed both in and out of the classroom. At Meoncross, every child is safe to say ‘I can be the best possible ME’.
We are very proud to be a through school for children aged 2.5 - 16 years, meaning we can welcome children into our school at any point in their educational journey. This could be at a natural key stage transition point such as starting 'big school' in Reception, Juniors in Year 3, or Upper School in Year 7, or anything in between.
Academic achievement is high, but so is our focus on wellbeing, as we know that happy children are high achieving children. We nurture our pupils and develop the characteristics and qualities we know they will need to build bright futures.
Excellent Academics
We were ranked 21st nationally in Times Parent Power Guide in 2025, and we have a proven track record of achieving excellence when it comes to academic results. Our pupils routinely achieve results well above the national average, from our Early Years to key Primary stages and GCSE results.
Holistic Approach
Emotional intelligence is just as important as academic achievement and we want our pupils to be confident, compassionate and capable young people. We believe it’s crucial to develop a child’s character through teaching transferable skills that will help them to thrive in the future.
We Are Meoncross
We have a strong family ethos, and instil a sense of great pride in our school community. We look after, support and encourage each other to always be our best.
At Meoncross, we often talk about the right school being “a feeling”, and in our school film we wanted to convey what a special and unique feeling there is at our school.
We hope you enjoy watching our film, and we look forward to welcoming you to experience Meoncross in person if you would like to find out more.
“Family is our central value and that means we are accepting, that we are kind to each other, we seek to understand and appreciate each other.”

Interviewing a Lord⭐
Earlier this term, 39 Upper School pupils volunteered to participate in a UK Parliament session interviewing MP and member of the House of Lords, Lord Mann.
In preparation for their interview session, pupils learnt about different questioning techniques and researched Lord Mann’s policies and outreach work. 📚💻 Lord Mann is most well-known for his work against antisemitism and his reform work with addicts.
Pupils asked him questions which were relevant to local, national and global themes and issues. Mrs Thom was incredibly impressed with the manner in which our pupils conducted themselves throughout both the session. ✨🗣
💬 Lord Mann was impressed with the pupils and stated, “I was delighted with the quality of the questions; polite but probing, and the professionalism that students treated the session with.”
What an incredible opportunity - thank you Lord Mann 🤩

A Magical Musical Journey 🎶⭐
Recently, pupils from Years 1, 2, and 3 were fortunate to attend an orchestral concert at Southampton`s Central Hall. Alongside other local schools, we were treated to a spectacular performance by the Southern Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra. 🎼
The sounds of strings, brass, woodwind, and percussion filled the hall, as beloved classical pieces were brought to life. Students were introduced to the different families of instruments, witnessing impressive demonstrations. 🎻🥁
A highlight of the concert was the energetic Wigwam Song, where everyone joined in, singing with enthusiasm as the orchestra provided a lively and powerful accompaniment. 🎤🎉
This vibrant performance not only captivated and entertained, but it also deepened the children’s appreciation for the orchestra, perfectly enhancing their classroom learning.
An unforgettable and inspiring musical experience! ♥

Starfish and Reception Meet the Gruffalo! 📚🎭
Reception and some of our Nursery Starfish class enjoyed watching a live performance of The Gruffalo at Chichester Festival Theatre last week, performed by the talented `Tall Stories Theatre Company`. 🌟
To begin, Mouse 🐭appeared on stage, leading everyone on a thrilling journey through the Deep, Dark Wood 🌲🌲. The children loved the imaginative storytelling and lively songs. Interactive moments kept them giggling and engaged throughout the show. 🤭 After the performance, the children had a special treat—an opportunity to explore the performance space, sparking even more curiosity.💭
The children are currently learning many stories by the author Julia Donaldson and enjoyed spotting characters they know in real life! 🦊🦉🐍 This story is a firm favourite and the children loved how interactive the performance was.
Mrs Chalmers has praised how well behaved and polite they all were throughout the 45-minute show and during the journey there and back. 🤩
This magical experience was a fantastic way to introduce live theatre to the children and support their classroom learning. A truly gruffalo-tastic day! 🎭🌲

✨ GCSE Synagogue Visit with Year 10 ✨
Our Year 10 GCSE Religious Studies Class visited the local Southsea Orthodox Synagogue as part of their Judaism studies.
Pupils were fortunate enough to have a guided tour and talk with a member of the Synagogue. Year 10 could see the features of the Synagogue that they have learnt about in their studies. 📚🕍
They were interested in the modern understanding how to live within a secular society and keep kosher dietary laws.
The trip was truly special and an amazing opportunity for Year 10 to learn more from a member of the Synagogue.
