We want our children to come to school happy. We know that when children are happy and having fun, they learn more, and achieve more. We want them to have the best start, to develop a love for learning and explore their creativity and curiosity.

At Meoncross we have always been firm believers in the importance of an exceptional Early Years education, and our Head of Early Years, Sarah Chalmers oversees that we provide just that, for all of our little ones.

our approach

Encouraging a love of learning

Class size is important; not too big that children feel overwhelmed and lost, especially at this crucial age, but big enough for them to feel the benefit of enjoying a social mix of friends, and this is something we feel we have just right at Meoncross.

Our expert Early Years teaching staff know each and every child and we truly do feel like one big family. Children are supported, encouraged and cared for so that they feel confident and willing to try new things while developing their independence and resilience.

A fulfilling curriculum

Our Reception children benefit from a varied and exciting curriculum. This includes weekly lessons in PE, French, Music, Singing and Performing Arts. All are taught by subject specialists, and this is in addition to their expertly delivered Early Years curriculum. They also enjoy Beach School and Outdoor Learning.

Through our first-hand learning approach, we provide opportunities for children to not just be taught, but to fully experience and engage in their immerse learning. This could be through trips and visits outside of the classroom, to welcoming visitors into our school for us to learn from them.
