Meoncross School continues to perform well above the National Average
Students and staff at Meoncross School were today celebrating another year of fantastic GCSE results, significantly outperforming their peers nationally.
43% of all grades achieved were a level 7 (or A and above) compared to 20% across the UK while 36% of Mathematics and 48% of English grades were also 7+. Further, a quarter of all English grades and 23% of Maths grades were 8 or 9 – the top end of the scale. The new level 9 grading surpasses the previous A* and only the top performing 3% of students in any subject will attain this result.
Particular individual successes include Ciara Foley, Head Girl, who achieved eight 9s (or A** equivalent) and Caden Plasa, whose grades include eight 9s and an A in Additional Mathematics.
New Headmaster Mark Cripps congratulated the students on their achievements. He said: “We are immensely proud of our students – they have done fantastically well! Staff and students have worked very hard as a team and it is most pleasing to see the incredible outcomes that once again will give our students the best start in their next educational and career steps. Meoncross School performs well above the national picture yet again.”
Sarah Ebery, who has been Headmistress for the last four years added: “I am delighted to have seen this year group achieve such fantastic results. There is a wealth of personalities whose contributions are much wider than even these excellent examination results show.”
Meoncross prides itself on providing a curriculum that combines high academic achievement, access to sport and the arts and with a whole-school emphasis on pupil wellbeing. As well as success in the core subjects and humanities, the art department is celebrating 100% of grades in Art and Textiles at 5 or above.
