There is a strong sense of family here at Meoncross and the family is at the centre of any community. We are a small school and we know one another well; pupil, parent and staff alike. Many parents offer their time to support the school by joining the Parents of Meoncross or as Parent Ambassador coming into school to talk about their experiences. Others attend Careers Day to enlighten pupils on the path they took to their chosen career and some become Parent Reps, rallying pupils and parents together for social activities.
The school is at the heart of the local coastal community and we take every opportunity to get out and about, from Nursery upwards. This is the inspiration for our Beach School status and pupils can be found at Hill Head beach most days of the week, taking part in lessons about their local environment, creating beach art or recreating an Egyptian irrigation system.
Church services are held three times a year in the parish church and choirs visit Holyrood to entertain the elderly and play a key role in the Alverstoke tree festival. Our annual speech night takes place at Fernham Hall in Fareham whilst our Founders’ Service enjoys the magnificent setting of Portsmouth Catholic Cathedral.
I would like to thank you and your staff for giving us the opportunity to visit our grandchildren’s school. It was especially nice to be able to join in with lessons and see the supportive environment our grandchildren have at Meoncross. They all appeared very settled and happy.
